Update: 7/15/08 - Frannie has filled out nicely and is finally a normal weight. She is so sweet and is waiting for you to take her home!! ---- Darling Frannie has had a rough life so far and is just happy to have a nice warm place to sleep and lots of food and fresh water. In her picture she's enjoying the visit of a 5 year old girl. On 3/15/08 a good Samatarian arrived at our gates with a tiny newborn puppy that he found in the middle of his yard (way out in the middle of nowhere!). Our shelter staff told him to search everywhere for the mother or other puppies. The tiny pup was whisked into foster care where she could be fed every 2-3 hours. Two days later we got a call that he found the mother and other puppies under an outbuilding. Sadly, 4 pups had frozen to death but the other 3 are doing fine and the first puppy is now reunited with Frannie. Frannie is about 35 lbs but should be about 45 lbs and she'll soon fatten up. 3/27/08: Poor Frannie! She developed Mastitis in one nipple and is on antibiotics. She is so sweet and is being a great mother to her puppies despite her discomfort. She has also put on some much-needed weight. She would be happy to know that this is her first and last litter because it has been very difficult for her. Please spay your dogs! Mastitis is very common in mother dogs! Please help us care for Frannie and other dogs like her. We're all they have and we rely 100% on donations from caring people like you. Checks may be mailed to Southside SPCA, P. O.
